Coalition of Persons with Disabilities (COD-NL) Congratulates Scholarship Winner Kelsey Jeans
COD-NL has partnered with Scotiabank since 2000 to offer one $1,000 scholarship to a person with a disability, who is graduating from high school and beginning their post-secondary education. The applications for the 2011 scholarship were extremely remarkable and COD-NL is delighted to announce that Kelsey Jeans of Bishop’s Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador, is the 2011 COD-NL Scotiabank Scholarship winner.
Kelsey is a graduate of Leo Burke Academy in Bishop’s Falls, where she took part in various school and community activities. She has been accepted to Holland College in Prince Edward Island to study Culinary Arts.
"COD-NL anticipated a high quality and quantity of applicants to apply for the 2011 COD-NL Scotiabank Scholarship and were not disappointed as quite a few candidates from around the province applied. I would like to thank Scotiabank for this opportunity,” said Michelle Murdoch, President of the COD-NL Board of Directors. “A good education is important to all persons; COD-NL encourages all persons with disabilities to strive for quality educations so that they can achieve the careers they desire.”
Carla Bunch, District Manager of Scotiabank for NL says, “Scotiabank values education and post –secondary studies. We are excited to be part of this initiative and supporting students with disabilities as they enter post-secondary. Community involvement is important to Scotiabank; we are dedicated to being a socially responsible corporation. We congratulate Kelsey and wish her all the best as she embarks on her education.”
