
DART
Disability Awareness Resource Training (DART) is a national disability awareness service delivery model that provides education and awareness that promotes the inclusion and participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of life.
Advantages to participants completing DART Training:
- Presentations are tailored to the audience and offers diverse content and methods of delivery to suit specific needs
- Training will be presented by people with disabilities
- Process and content promotes the human rights, economic and social integration of persons with disabilities
- Training is from a cross disability/age perspective
Participants will Learn:
- How to support people from a cross disability perspective
- How stereotypes and language determine how people are treated
- Barriers and solutions to support full participation in the community
- What they know about disability now and compare that knowledge to what they know once the training is done
- Disability etiquette, provision of service or assistance and communication strategies
- How to support people with disabilities through community inclusion
- What it is like to be a person with a disability for a short time to get an idea of what people experience everyday

- An understanding of the stereotypes that exist among people with disabilities
- Familiarity of various types of disabilities and how to ensure appropriate service
